The Flower of Light Centre was the dream of a family from Ireland, Donal, Antoinette and Dylan.

We visited Egypt many times before building The Flower of Light, and before meeting our very good friend Abdul. Abdul and his family took us under their wing when we came to Egypt as we were somewhat lost and very unsure of how to make our dream work. It was with Abdul’s help, kindness, hard work and friendship that we were able to build our Centre.

Abdul and his family are some of the beautiful people of Luxor that unfortunately tourists rarely get to meet. We built our Centre on the edge of the village of Qurna, where Abdul and his family live. During the building of the Centre and as time went by he introduced us to our neighbours in the village, who welcomed us with kindness and accepted us with friendliness as their neighbours.

It is the wonderful sense of homeliness, friendship and community that we share with our friends in Qurna that makes the Flower of Light Centre a unique and refreshing place to stay. Our Centre is not just a Centre, it is a community.

We are in the unique position to be able to offer our guests the chance to share in this community of friends and neighbours.
